In a devastating incident in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, an avalanche has taken the lives of two backcountry skiers. The skiers, part of a group of four, were caught in the avalanche while skiing out of bounds near Mount Hood.

According to reports, the avalanche occurred on a slope known for its unstable snow conditions, despite warnings from local authorities. The skiers were equipped with avalanche safety gear, but unfortunately, it was not enough to prevent this tragedy.

This is not the first such incident in the area, as just last week, a separate avalanche claimed the lives of three skiers in South Lake Tahoe. These tragic events serve as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with backcountry skiing, especially in areas prone to avalanches.

Local rescue teams are currently on the scene, working to recover the bodies of the two skiers and provide support to their families. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time.
