Tragedy struck at Carnival's new private island destination in the Bahamas as two American vacationers drowned during a snorkeling excursion. The victims, a husband and wife, were reportedly participating in a guided snorkeling tour when the incident occurred.

According to witnesses, the couple had been in the water for only a few minutes before they began to struggle. Despite efforts from the tour guides and fellow passengers to rescue them, the vacationers tragically succumbed to the rough waters.

Carnival Cruise Line has since released a statement expressing their condolences to the families of the victims and assuring the public that they are cooperating with authorities in the investigation of the incident.
